I had tried picking up Python from YouTube before and always got stuck when things went wrong. This course was different because each exercise tells you exactly what it should output, so you know when your code actually works. The section on data structures took me two reads to follow properly, but that is more about me than the material.

The code review feedback in the Advanced programme is very specific, which is what I needed. My mentor would point to a particular function and explain what was inefficient about it rather than just saying it could be better. The portfolio project gave me something concrete I can actually walk through when explaining my work to others. The pacing requires you to be self-directed — that part suited me but it might not suit everyone.
